Abstract: Fullerenes are a class of compounds with unique chemical and physical properties, which potential uses can be explored in the biological medicine field. The review reports the synthesis and preparation of the compounds; the biological effects of empty fullerenes in anti-HIV, DNA cleavage, radical scavenger and recent aspects of metallofullerene as nuclear radiomedicine for diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
