Abstract:
The Fukushima incident is a reminder of several crucial lessons. On the one hand, the impacts of the radiation/nuclear incident were amplified as the combination of a natural disaster with technological failure. On the other hand, the lack of effective and objective communication will lead to public anxiety and mistrust. All radiation emergency response plans are prepared for professional staff only instead of being allotted for the educating and training the public. Numberous nations, including China, face the lack of preventive education and training of radiation protection to the public. Therefore, the public are easily dominated by biased media reports and experience negative psychological impact. Based on these lessons, providing appropriate education and training for the public and the media is particularly important.
