Abstract: Mitochondria play a major role in normal metabolism of the body. Therefore, mitochondrial dysfunction inevitably participates in or even determines the onset and progression of many diseases. Methods for in vivo assessment of mitochondrial function would help understand the biological function of mitochondria. This review focuses on the methods to assess mitochondrial function in vivo.
