Abstract:
Objective To understand the application of Micro-CT in experimental animal research and predict the research hotspots and development trends in the future.
Methods The related literatures about Micro-CT applied in experimental animal research were searched in the Web of Science (WOS) core collection database. CiteSpace6.3.R1, VOSviewer1.6.20, Origin2024, Excel and SCImago Graphica software were used to visually analyze the countries, institutions, keywords and other contents of the included literature.
Results A total of 610 articles were included. The annual number of articles related to Micro-CT application in experimental animal research was on the rise as a whole. 610 articles came from 55 countries, involving 1130 institutions, 4133 authors, and 314 journals. The United States was the country with the highest number of publications, and the institutions with the highest number of publications was University of Sao Paulo, Brazil,The author with the highest number of articles was Rafael Scaf de Molon, the most published journal was Bone, and the most cited journal was journal of bone and mineral research. Keyword Clustering showed that the main research areas of Micro-CT were bone regeneration, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, dental implantation, and implants.
Conclusion In the past decade, the application of Micro-CT in experimental animal research has developed rapidly, and the developed countries led by the United States are in a leading position in this field. The application of Micro-CT in biological implants is a current research hotspot and a future development trend.
