Abstract:
Objective To analyze the individual dose monitoring results of occupational external exposure for radiation workers in a certain comprehensive tertiary hospital in Tianjin from 2017 to 2023, ensuring that the dose is below the national limit and controlled at a lower level as much as possible.
Methods The individual dose monitoring data of occupational external exposure for radiation workers in a certain comprehensive tertiary hospital in Tianjin from 2017 to 2023 were collected and analyzed. The monitored radiation workers were divided into four groups in accordance with their occupational categories: diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine, radiotherapy, and interventional radiology. The individual dose monitoring results of occupational external exposure for radiation workers in different years and occupational categories were evaluated. Rank transform analysis of variance was used for overall comparison among multiple groups, and SNK test was used for pairwise comparison.
Results A total of 2243 people were monitored in this comprehensive tertiary hospital in Tianjin from 2017 to 2023, and the average annual effective dose (0.16 (0.18) mSv) was lower than the national standard limit (20 mSv). A statistically significant difference was observed in the average annual effective dose from 2017 to 2023 (F=40.368, P<0.05), with the highest dose (0.24 (0.13) mSv) in 2020 and the lowest (0.11 (0.10) mSv) in 2019. A statistically significant difference was found in the average annual effective dose among radiation workers in different occupational categories (F=63.564, P<0.05), with nuclear medicine radiation workers having the highest (0.35 (0.61) mSv) and interventional radiology radiation workers having the lowest (0.11 (0.13) mSv).
Conclusions The average annual effective dose of radiation workers in this comprehensive tertiary hospital in Tianjin is at a relatively low level, and it does not exceed the national limit. Routine checks on the use of personal dosimeters and protective equipment by radiation workers should continue to be strengthened.
