Advances in the application of PET radiomics for colorectal cancer

Abstract: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a malignant tumor originating from the mucosa epithelium of the colon or rectum, characterized by high incidence and mortality rates. Radiomics plays a significant role in the diagnosis, staging, efficacy monitoring, and prognosis evaluation of tumors by extracting tumor information from medical images that cannot be obtained with the naked eye. PET/CT or PET/MR, which simultaneously display morphological and functional high-dimensional feature information, have unique advantages in the diagnosis and treatment of CRC. The authors reviewed the progress of radiomics in PET imaging of CRC, aiming to explore its application value in preoperative prediction, treatment response assessment, and prognosis prediction. It seeks to provide new insights and methods for clinical practice, thereby promoting the development of individualized precision medicine in CRC.
