Abstract: Keloid is a common benign skin tumor in clinic. Accompanied by pain, itching and other symptoms, keloid could cause serious adverse effects on the physical and mental health as well as life quality of patients. At present, the clinical methods to treat keloid include surgical excision and hormone therapy. However, due to the high recurrence rate, the efficacy of monotherapy is not ideal. At present, postoperative radiotherapy is the most effective method to treat keloid, which greatly reduces the recurrence rate of the disease. This paper reviews the research progress of postoperative radiotherapy in the treatment of keloid.
