The comparison of 11C-choline and 18F-FDG in tumor imaging with positron emission tomography

  • 11C-choline is a newly developed positron tumor positive imaging agent. In the imaging the T/N (tumor/normal) value is higher than that of 18F-FDG and superior than 18F-FDG especially in brain tumor and prostate cancer detection. 11C-choline and 18F-FDG showed different value in the detection of brain tumor, lung cancer, esophagus cancer and prostate cancer. Their accumulation mechanism and imaging modality was different too. Besides 11C-choline, 18F-fluorocholine was also introduced, its clinical value need more study to prove.
