Abstract:
The authors explore the new pathways for cultivating radiation medicine talents in the context of the new era, focusing on the training of research-oriented talents with master′s degree or above, and emphasizes the necessity and feasibility of the deep integration of patriotism with science and education. As a crucial comprehensive field, radiation medicine plays a significant role in nuclear safety, cancer radiation therapy, and medical imaging. However, amid intensifying global tech competition and rising demand for medical services, China′s radiation medicine education faces challenges in curriculum design, practical teaching, and fostering students′ sense of social responsibility. To address the challenges, the authors propose a combination of deep integration of patriotism with science and education to cultivate high-quality radiation medicine talents. Specific measures include strengthening students′ patriotism and sense of social responsibility via research cases and scientist stories, improving students′ innovative ability by integrating scientific research resources with teaching activities, and optimizing the curriculum system with ideological-political elements which aims to broaden students′ horizons. In addition, the authors also outline the implementation pathways for optimizing the radiation medicine curriculum system to foster students′ comprehensive growth. Such pathways include virtual simulation, practical training, and intelligent laboratory development. Looking ahead, the authors propose the 2035 strategic goals: guided by national strategies, through the science-education integration, global governance involvement, and social value feedback, radiation medicine will serve as the core carrier of the tech-for-nation spirit, provide China′s solutions for the ethical governance of medical radiation, helping China occupy an important position in the global field of radiological medicine and contributing to the building of a global community of health for all.
